Empowering Pet Owners To Make Confident Decisions
Introduction

As I travel throughout Ontario teaching courses and seminars to hundreds of people, I am constantly asked to put the training material in writing. Well, finally, here it is! Written with the assistance of a variety of pet professionals, this book will provide all the tips you need to get started on better pet care.

Animal lovers often tell me that they are overwhelmed when they hear so many different suggestions on how to care for their pets. They simply don’t know what to believe. Their sentences often start with “My breeder suggested…,” “My vet advised…,” “The lady at the pet store said…,” or “The man at the dog park was certain that….”
When I got my first dog, I had no idea how little I knew about caring for dogs. As I was growing up, it was always other people looking after them. It looked so simple. I just couldn’t believe how much there was to learn about food, health issues, training, grooming, etc. . . . the list seemed endless and overwhelming.
My first dog was diagnosed with an illness as a puppy and was given approximately two years to live. In talking to different experts, I heard very strong opinions about how to proceed with my dog. Each one was adamant in telling me that his suggestion was the only way to go. It was very confusing.
So I began to research and study. I was insatiable. The more I learned, the hungrier I became to learn. I was able to help my dog through eight years of a happy life.
Did you know that something as simple as changing your pet’s diet could cut the amount of shedding in half? Imagine how much less vacuuming that would mean. Wouldn’t that be a treat?
It’s A Dog’s Life is not intended to replace appropriate veterinary care, but focuses on preventive care, holistic options and building your confidence to make important decisions for your pet. I want to make caring for your pet more enjoyable.
There are many treatments available for your four-legged family members . . . homeopathy, acupuncture, Reiki, Bach flowers and herbs. Discover time-proven recipes, used originally by our grandmothers, that have grown in popularity again. And find out where to look for more information.
It’s A Dog’s Life demystifies the confusion around pet care. It does not promote any one specific technique, treatment or rule, but simply offers choices to pet owners.
You no longer have to be a confused bystander. Become an expert in caring for your own pet. Just imagine how good that feels.
It will change your life, as well as your pet’s. It did for me.

Enjoy!
